Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGF Receptor) is a cell-surface glycoprotein composed of a single polypeptide chain (170kDa) that binds the EGF peptide (6.1kDa). The EGF Receptor is found in numerous tissues of the body where the number of molecules can range from 20,000 to 200,000 per cell. The EGF Receptor consists of an extracellular ligand binding domain, a single transmembrane region and a cytoplasmic intrinsic tyrosine kinase domain.
