The Streptavidin MagneSphere® Paramagnetic Particles consist of a magnetite core coated with streptavidin. The interaction between biotin and streptavidin (Kd = 10–15) is one of the strongest and most stable in biology. Thus, these particles combine convenient magnetic separation technology with the versatility and high affinity of the biotin-streptavidin interaction. The particles can be used with a wide variety of commercially available biotinylated reagents, including oligonucleotides, peptides, lectins, antibodies and enzymes. The biotin-streptavidin interaction cannot be reversed under nondenaturing conditions; therefore, we do not recommend the use of SA-PMPs for applications in which biotinylated molecules need to be recovered from the SA-PMPs.

The MagneSphere® Magnetic Separation Stands may be used in conjunction with SA-PMPs and any of the PolyATtract® Systems. The MagneSphere® Stands use the same samarium/cobalt magnet used in the PolyATtract® Systems and are provided in a variety of sizes to accommodate 10–96 samples at a time.
